Gruen Veri-Thin watches are a type of pocket watch that were produced in the early-twentieth century by the Gruen Watch Company.

Identification

History & Description

Established in 1894, the Gruen Watch Company was founded by Dietrich Gruen, a German emigrant, and by the 1920s the company was one of the most expensive and significant watch manufacturers in the United States.

In 1904 Gruen released the VeriThin model of pocket watch. By rearranging pieces of the watch movement, Gruen was able to produce a watch that was a mere 7mm thick. These pocket watches were a third thinner than their competition and still managed to meet the most exacting accuracy time tests of this period.
